From Mundane to Magnificent

We arrived in Belfast at about 3.30pm and checked into the Premier Inn which is our first non- B&B accommodation for the trip and our first 2 night stay. You know what that means? Yes, clothes washing!

Washing finished we headed out for dinner and a look around, it doesn't get dark until about 9pm. We had been given a booklet called 'eatBelfast' by the girl at checkin (she had no agenda in getting us to eat at the hotel's restaurant and what's more she told us to take extra at breakfast tomorrow to have on our bus trip to the Antrim coast! - can you believe it). Anyway we decided on a couple of pubs to check out from the 'Gastro Pubs' section of the book (having eaten at a 'gastro' pub before and having not come down with gastro we have decided it is just a trendy Irish term). Anyway we decided on The Crown Liquor Saloon - ornate Victorian exterior and delightful gas lit interior with hearty classic pub fare. Another good choice.

Before returning back to the hotel we were unexpectedly treated to a whole host of architectural splendour - so much grandeur and embellishment.

Tomorrow the Giant's Causeway for natural splendour.
